The geographical location near the country’s capital, Madrid, facilitates easy and quick access to any city in Castilla y León. The road and motorway network connect the region to any city in Europe.

There are several types of roads in Castilla y León. Depending on their type, they depend on different governing bodies.
Toll/Free Motorways: They belong to the Spanish State, but are managed and maintained by private companies.

Dual Carriageways: Managed and maintained by the State or the Regional Government of Castilla y León.
Main Roads: Managed and maintained by the State.

Local Roads (B Roads): They are managed and maintained by the Regional Government of Castilla y León.

Provincial Roads: Managed& maintained by the Provincial Council.

Council Road: Managed and maintained by Town Councils
